When in the state of closeness, the discs form a certain angle with the flowing direction.

The through-holes of the base and the discs are all oval while the flowing channel is straight- through. Therefore, the closed angle is relatively small, which decreases phenomena of the water hammer, as a result, effectively secures the valve.
